 Air Quality Monitor (AQM) FAQ

What is the last date to order the legacy monitors?

Unfortunately, we currently have a back-order of products that will consume all existing legacy monitors. From January 1, 2026, all new orders (and a few back orders) will feature the new AQM Monitor.

What is considered a legacy monitor?

Any monitor in the black metal case is considered a legacy monitor. Item model examples include CO-91, CO2-91, CO91-14LAC, CO-91 PM and CO-91IS series products.

Is my legacy monitor still good without the O2 sensor or dew point measured?

Yes, per OSHA: 29CFR Section 1910.134(I0(7) REQUIRES THE USE OF A CARBON MONOXIDE (CO) MONITOR FOR COMPRESSED BREATHING AIR SUPPLIED FROM OIL LUBRICATED COMPRESSORS. Users should still be aware of the O2 levels and dew point, but are not required to alarm if either is not within specified ranges.

Can we retroactively fit Breather Boxes with new the new monitor?

We are still working out the logistics on how to retrofit the new AQM Monitor into existing products in the field. We’re also sorting out the process for sending in products to be retrofitted at the factory in Chesapeake, VA. Details will follow in the next few weeks.

Will you still have parts for the Legacy Monitors (CO-91 and CO2-91 Series models)?

We will have a limited number of parts and will do the best we can to supply legacy monitors in the near future. We’ve already exhausted the O2 sensor supply and are now using an adaptor (O2-NS-ADPT) to use a new sensor (O2-NS) in legacy models.

Where is the manual online?

The manual can be found at www.AirSystems.com/AQM or www.AirSystems.com/manuals/aqm.pdf

How long do the batteries last? What kind of batteries are used?

Six AA batteries will last approximately 40 hours in use. Options include 12-12 VDC input from vehicles or many popular cordless tool batteries. Contact Customer Service for custom options.

Can I disable the CO Sensor and/or Alarm?

No, the CO sensor and alarm cannot be disabled.

Can I disable the O2 Sensor and/or Alarm?

Yes, the O2 alarm can be enabled or disabled. If a sensor is installed, the O2 level will still be displayed with no audio or visual alarm.

Can I disable the Humidity Sensor (Dew Point) Sensor and/or Alarm?

Yes, the Humidity sensor can be enabled or disabled

HELP! I changed the language! How do I get it back to another language?

Turn the AQM off by pressing and holding the power button and selecting the bottom right button (YES / SI / OUI).

Turn the power button on and let the AQM cycle through the initial 3 screens. A language preference screen will appear (if set up this way). Select the button next to the preferred language and hit SET (or AJUSTAR / REGLER)) depending on the language.

If the language option does not come on allowing language selection, press bottom right button (NO / NO / NON) and then bottom right button 3 times to get Language/Idioma/lLangue Menu in center of screen. Click and select preferred language and the SET button.

Then determine if you want to ask language at startup and hit SET / AJUSTAR / REGLER. Hit bottom left button 2 times and the monitor is ready for use. Hit bottom Left button 2 more times to reach SETUP Menu to make additional changes prior to use.

Factory Reset

The factory reset option restores the monitor to the condition and options that were originally shipped to the user. Any changes such as language, calibration reminders, and screen brightness will have to be reset to user’s preference.

Forgot Pass Code?

If you forget the pass code, the master pass code is ASI.

Replacement Sensors

Replacement sensors and parts are listed in the AQM Manual. The most common replacement parts are the CO sensor (CO-91NS) and the O2 Sensor (O2-NS). The Allen Tool (battery cover tool - AQM-TOOL) can be ordered or a 1/16" Allen wrench can be used to open the battery compartment. A 7/16" Allen wrench can be used to open the sensor compartment.

What regulations do the sensors meet?

OSHA: 29CFR Section 1910.134(I0(7) REQUIRES THE USE OF A CARBON MONOXIDE (CO) MONITOR FOR COMPRESSED BREATHING AIR SUPPLIED FROM OIL LUBRICATED COMPRESSORS

U.S. regulatory information regarding carbon monoxide and moisture levels for breathing air: USE OF THIS MONITOR WILL INFORM THE USER IF THE AIR SUPPLY COMPLIES WITH OSHA: 29CFR SECTIONS; 1910.134(I)(1)(ii)C CARBON MONOXIDE CONTENT 1910.134(I)(5)(ii) MOISTURE CONTENT

The Original Breather Box®
High Performance Portable Grade-D Breathing Air Filtration System

The Breather Box® is a portable Grade-D filtration system designed to provide breathing air for a specific number of workers.   The system filters incoming air from a compressor to provide respirator users with Grade-D quality air and monitors for CO and/or Oxygen.

The first stage element filters bulk water and particulate and has an auto drain.  The second stage coalescing filter eliminates atomized oils, mists, ultra-fine particulates, and has an auto drain.  The third stage filter removes organic vapors and odors and has a manual drain.  Filter change indicators are standard on all three stages of filtration.  Filtration efficiency is 99.99% @ .01 micron.  All Breather Boxes®  are designed to be used in the upright and closed position to prevent internal contamination.

The standard carbon monoxide (CO) airline monitor operates on disposable 9-volt batteries, 8-16 volt DC, or 115 VAC for continuous air monitoring.  An external audible alarm and light signals the workers of high CO content.  A remote alarm jack is provided on all models except for Model BB15-CO.  Point-of-Attachment (POA) boxes can extend respirator usage beyond 300 feet.

Typical Elements of a Breathing Air System

 Elements1

The above pictured items make up a typical Grade-D breathing air system. Depending on the number of workers to be served by the system and whether the system needs to be portable or a fixed plant system, the size and complexity of the system may change. However, the basic elements above must be present. In order to properly size the breathing air system, it is absolutely essential that the user’s first decision is to decide the type and quantity of airline respirator(s) to be used. A quick recap of the airline respirator types and their required flow and pressure requirements is essential. All airline respirators are referred to by NIOSH as Type-C or Type-CE respirators. NIOSH approved CE respirators are designed for abrasive blasting but still require the same air flow as Type-C respirators.
