Air Systems' Portable Fume Extractor is used mainly for source capture of welding smoke and fumes. Different filter combinations can make the Portable Fume Extractor unit very versatile and cost effective for the job required. The Portable Fume Extractor series operates at less than 80dbA.   A non-metallic fume hood is placed on the 360 degree rotating adjustable arm and is supplied with an adjustable damper to control air flow velocity at the capture site. The contaminated air is drawn in through the arm or central duct; clean filtered air is exhausted through the sides and bottom of the cabinet.

Important Welding Fume Health Standard Change:
Effective May 30, 2006, OSHA lowered the PEL for Hexavalent Chromium and its compounds called Hex Chrome from 52 to 5 micrograms per cubic meter.  This standard affects all general industry, shipyards, and construction industry activities with regard to welding on stainless steel and painted surfaces.  The new standard necessitates source capture of these extremely harmful compounds with the use of HEPA filtered portable welding fume extractors.
